Description: Students will get to research, design, build, and test a variety of cool things. A current list is below. We probably won't have time and/or money to do all these things and, hey, some may fail (explode). But we'll Dare To Fail!
Egg Astronaut - Design and build a rocket with a ?? as the "astronaut."
Newton's Cradle - Design and build a Newton's Cradle using billiard balls.
Chaos Tower - Design and build a Kinetic (Rube-Goldberg) Machine.
Solar Oven - Design and build an oven to cook S'mores
Build a Bridge - Design and construct a bridge out of balsa wood and glue.
Cup Tower - How high can you make a tower of paper cups?

Solar Power Kiosk - Design and build a scale model of the Solar Power System we are installing. We'll need to model the Science Building and bushes, install a small solar panel, a light (for the sun), some meters, LED lights, a switch, make electrical connections. This kiosk will be used to show students and visitors how our Solar Power system works. Need to have electronics worked out before working on the artistic part. Assign a Kiosk "team." Probably 3 students would be best.
Wind Power - Design and build wind turbines. The future of energy production? Depends on funding. Or build them out or recyclable materials?
Robotics - Build and program Lego NXT robots. Depends on grant. We also have 10 BoeBot robots we can use.
Bed of Nails - Build a bed of nails. Could you stand on one? Low probability of doing this, due to all the nails required. (This task is better suited to a robot!)
Faraday Cage - Build an aluminum screened booth a couple people can fit in. Would you be safe from lightning? Let's find out.
Assign a team of 2-3 students. Must have older student.
Staff: Brian and Craig
Funds Needed:
Number of Computers Needed, When, and For How Long: 10 for all 3 days
Number of Video Cameras Needed, When, and For How Long: Use Brian's
